It had a the best candy selection (such as Ferrara Pan), a cool funky building, and owners who actually wanted to be friends with the customers. They would take pictures of all their regulars and put them up on a massive collage on a cork board. It was a special honor when my brother and I got put up there. The only thing that could remotely compare was the Fuji dime store which used to be next door to Tweety and Popp, but I think that closed by the time I was eleven.<br/><br/>I probably don't qualify as a Wallingford old timer, but I lived there from age 0.5 to 19, then again when I was in college, in the former home of the Gypsy Joker motorcycle club near 40th and Ashworth.
