Paul is a treasure! We have a group of neighbors who hang out in the street, allowing our kids to ride bikes on nice evenings and weekends (don't worry--we live on a rare Wallingford dead-end and we move to let people drive up whenever they want). Paul always comes by and chats for a few minutes. We always relish the time we get to spend with Paul. It's so nice to be able to ask questions about the neighborhood of someone who knows the history!

That just might be my house mid-block with the lawn of dandelions. When we moved in to the neighborhood almost 3 years ago, we caught this man snapping photos of our house each day and wondered what was up. He explained his plan to us and we can't wait for his project to be finished. We, like many in the area, have done a bit of work on the house since purchase, and and animated "then to now" would be interesting to see. Now, our kids think that Paul is Santa Claus (because we told them he is), and he is taking photos of them every day for his naughty and nice lists (because we told them he is). He always brings a smile when we see him on our own walks and in front of our house.

My Father, C. M. McCune, was an attorney in the University District of Seattle for 56 years and over time he formed friendships with the likes of Walt Crowley and Paul Dorpat. All three, in different ways, used imagination and hard work to make Wallingford and the "U" District better places to be.
