We could have sworn there was a house right across the street from Mosaic just yesterday!

I loved me that little house – before it got overgrown, it always a nice flower garden – well-tended but seemed wild and riotous.
watched it yesterday. pretty crazy when the fireplace came down. neighbors said they were going to build a house right away.
And another mature tree bites the dust.
Well, that house was waaay too small. Must have townhomes . . .
I try not to be a jerk about tearing down housing stock, but sometimes I just don’t succeed.
that house belonged to my friend, Liz, a gentle & caring lady who had lived there with her husband for a very long time. She died last year, leaving her beloved garden and the house in the care of a church in the U District. they transplanted many of her treasured flowers to the church grounds and sold the house to a nice young architect and his family who will rebuild and become a new neighbor.
It’s a bummer to see that they cut down a mature tree, especially with all the tree-planting effort and expense that’s gone in to Wallingford recently. I just don’t know why anyone would do that.
I talked to the guy who lives next door and he said the architect moving in is planning to build a “green” house, but also that it was going to be 3 stories and have a driveway down one side to a garage in back.
