Paint ball attacks are a violation. My wife and I heard whispers about 4am one morning and looked out the window to see 3 boys take aim at our house and unload many rounds of paint balls. I jumped on my bike and followed the trail of paint balls on houses, cars and on the street for over a mile until I came to a house by Green lake. Come to find out one of these boys lived there. He left a road map to his house. I passed this on to SPD and as you guessed, nothing was done. Positive ID, address and all the cut and dry evidence you would need, but no action was taken. So, neighborhood vigilance yes, but what else can we do.

I had a car stolen from my driveway in Wedgwood. It's frustrating, but really, what can they do, unless they catch the people in the act? And honestly, if you don't leave anything in your car, you shouldn't fuss too much. It's part of living in the city. It's summer, and when school gets back, the "crime wavelet" will subside.

I have to second Wallyhood on this one. I am really frustrated that the police, hardworking and underpaid as they probably are, seem to have demonstrated a lack of interest in solving these crimes. Even when presented with solid clues (like pictures of the stolen goods being advertised for sale on craigslist), they do not follow up. Their brethern in Tacoma and Bellingham have been successful in the last 6 months in breaking crime rings that were fencing stolen merchandise through craigslist, so there's clearly fertile ground here. One would think that with the mayoral race heating up, one of the candidates would latch on to crime as an issue, a la season 4 of The Wire.
