We noticed that the road noise, inside the car, is less on the grooved areas that the pitted out concrete. I have heard at least one complaint from someone up around 54th and mentioned it to Tim Durkan, the Fremont Neighborhood Service Center director. Apparaently, WSDOT dropped off a HUGE box of ear plugs for him to distribute to residents who are having problems with the noise generated by the grinding. We turn on a fan to mask the noise... But I-5 is a lot quieter to drive on. Still wondering if it is worth it, though.
