Power outage -- doesn't seem to have been related to the fire as noone nearby lost any power at the time and the fire dept was off-scene after about 45 minutes. They didn't even use water. ;-)

As for wind, none o' that either. It seemed like a calm fall night in our side of the 'hood. But MyBallard.com readers are commenting that they heard a loud boom right before the power went outP: http://www.myballard.com/2009/11/02/ballard-power-outage/#disqus_thread

Doesn't look like it re:power outage. The City Light outage page (http://www2.seattle.gov/light/outage2/) says that ~12000 customers in "the Fremont and Ballard" neighborhoods lost power. Cause "unknown." Was it windy last night?

Power was out in places west of Stone Way to Aurora when I woke up at 12:30 a.m. and came back on an hour later. Any connection?
