I have seen twice now someone cleaning the sidewalks in front of the building across from Archie McPhees (where Bastyr, Beso Del Sol, etc. used to be.) And by cleaning I mean blowing the leaves into the street. Some old guy who cleaned the sidewalks in front of Wallingford Center used to do this too, but I haven't seen him recently. That guy actually used a hose to spray off the leaves, but I digress. I've seen other business owners doing the same thing. The problems is that of course they don't collect the leaves. They just leave them in the street apparently contributing to our downhill neighbors' water overabundance. I'm also pretty sure leaving the leaves, etc. there is illegal. Maybe the Chamber of Commerce and/or the Community Council can talk to the local business about this? It's not every business. I've also seen people at Taco Time and the old Tweedy and Pop location doing the right thing. Ah, now so this reminds me.
