Per an early Wallyhood story on Tweedy & Popp’s relocation, they moved because the building’s owner wouldn’t renew their long-term lease as he intends to redevelop the building into a four-story project sometime in the next couple of years:

John: Seems kind of unreasonable to draw conclusions about this new retailer based on the first posters in their windows. Maybe they spent their capital on inventory and don’t have a lot for tenant improvements just yet. Or just maybe they’re only getting started on the renovations and there’s a lot more to come.

There are some very respectable carpet stores downtown on Western Ave & in Pioneer Square where we’ve found a few exceptionally beautiful rugs for our home. We should be so lucky to have a store like those in our neighborhood!
