Missing Cat, Sammy

Sammy

Kristen writes:

Hi, folks-

Our cat, Sammy, has gone missing (again).  Sammy is a juvenile, female, gray/white short-hair tabby – VERY friendly and social.  She was last seen Saturday morning on Wallingford, roaming between 47th (where we live) and the qfc parking lot. She was wearing a (pink?) collar with our address and phone # on the tag (no chip).  She is well known around our area, and no one has seen her, which makes us think she’s stuck in a garage/house/car nearby.

Side note: last time Sammy went missing, she was taken by someone who thought she was lost… In front of our home! We found her on Craigslist that time.

Would you mind helping us get the word out?  We can be reached on 206-251-2704 (m)  206-714-2683 (m) or 206-632-2647 (h).

Many thanks.

call animal control, humane society, check craigslist

then start with community blogs .. notice a previous entry on this blog where the ‘finder’ took in 2 cats and didnt want to notify the appropriate places.
People can ‘decide’ that not using regular and legal means of communication is appropriate. Seattle times has another wallingford blog.

Sammy is a great cat — she pops over to our yard every now and then.

Haven’t seen her recently, but we will keep an eye out!

@ Drew – it’s a community forum and when a pet is lost or found it gets posted here.

Beautiful cat. I hope she is found soon. I think it’s great that people can post for their lost pets and have Wallingford on the lookout for missing pets. It’s a great resource.

A reminder about how important it is to microchip your pets and to take the time to take a found collarless pet to vet or shelter to have it scanned for a chip.

Over Christmas, a sweet and lovely collarless black cat showed up in my yard for several days; looked at local blogs and around the neighborhood for “lost” notices to no avail. After the holiday I brought him to my vet to get him checked for microchip. Owner was located. Turns out the cat went missing from U District in mid November and family had pretty much given up finding him. Happy ending thanks to microchip.

Thanks, neighbors, for keeping an eye out. So far, Craigslist, Petfinder, and the shelters have turned up nothing. It is truly unusual that there have been no Sammy sightings at all, which lead us to believe she is behind closed doors somewhere – unintentionally or not. We’re hoping that folks returning from mid-winter break and good karma are on our side. Her 7-year-old owner is distraught. And yes, xv, a chip is most definitely in order upon her return.

Thanks to all who looked out for Sammy. She’s safely home now, after spending the past eight days locked in a neighbor’s basement. Now, off to get a microchip (and perhaps GPS!).

Harper and I were on the lookout all week. It was really sad to walk to school with him calling her (and he carried the poster around the QFC asking people if they’d seen her).
