Last night at 7:25pm as I was opening the front door to my house (5th Ave between 47th and 50th) a white man who appeared to be in his 60's popped out/appeared from around the side of the house. I froze, we stared at each other for a second, and then I scrambled to get inside (he did not attempt to get in behind me, at least that I could tell). I have no idea what he would be doing on the side of my house in the dark except something at least vaguely nefarious.
The man was wearing a black coat and I believe had a hat over grey/white hair. It all happened so fast that I didn't get a really good look at him and couldn't really tell if he looked like one of the transient folks who hang out by the highway...but I wouldn't be surprised if he fell into that category.
Anyway, just FYI Wallingford. Lock your doors like whoa. Also, seriously, what is up with the spike in crime in this area? I mean, my house is right on the highway where all the transient folks hang out so its maybe less surprising, but still, my goodness. Any theories (aside from the economy) on why there appears to be an increase in crime in Wallingford?
