Bucket Brigade Wrap-Up

Jordan Jordan March 29, 2009 Comments are off

Wallingfordites are a hearty lot, it must be said. Despite the rain, somewhere close to a 100 people showed up on Saturday to symbolically move Tweedy and Popp from their old locale to their new. While it’s true that the move was symbolic (it’s going to take longer than half an hour to move the whole hardware store, even with the Wallingford Bucket Brigade), it was good fun, especially for the assortment of items we passed hand-to-hand: garden gnomes, spinning flowers, American flags, yard flamingos and, last but not least, the iconic Flexible Flier sled that has hung in the window for over a half century (but not, unfortunately for some of us, warm gloves!)

We wrapped it up with a group photo, Trophy cupcakes, free Tweedy and Popp t-shirts and a festive tour of the new digs.

Aaron Last shot photos of the event for the Wallingford Chamber, which we share here as a slideshow:

KOMO 4 News was there, as well, along with other press. Here’s their video (with yours truly at about 35 seconds before the end).

Thanks to all who turned out and thanks to Trophy Cupcakes, Julia’s and Molly Moon’s for donating yumminess.
