Water, Water Everywhere at Farmers Market

After a morning of unnaturally bright sunshine and ominous radio warnings of thunderstorms, rain- and 50-knot wind-advisories, my daughter and I set off for the first day of the Wallingford Farmers Market with umbrellas and trepidation. As we've been reporting for some time, the Wallingford Playfield wading pool appears to be out of harm's way (or budget cut's way, at least) for 2010. Rampaging Elephants? Burning Buildings?

If you listen closely this Saturday morning, May 22nd, from 9:00-11:00 AM you may hear several unusual reports of destruction, mayhem, and emergencies occurring around Wallingford and all around the city. The network of volunteer HAM operators, the Seattle Auxiliary Communications Service or ACS, will be holding an exercise to test the emergency communication network up to the City’s Emergency Operations Center, EOC. Ride of Silence: 7pm tonight

We've just learned the Ride of Silence takes place at 7pm tonight, starting & ending at Gas Works Park in lower Wallingford. The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph and remain silent during the ride. There are no sponsors and no registration fees.
