Mural Redesign

The 46th Street Mural Project (see And the muralist is... for background) had to go an emergency redesign to accomodate the overhead live trolley lines through the Aurora underpass, but rest easy, the new look has been approved by the city and the project is back underway. Here's a look at it: “We like the way the redesign turned out and actually think that the irregularity of the top edge has made the overall design more dynamic,” Patricia Hopper, Project Manager…

Kick It

Just in time for the World Cup semifinals, Tim writes: Parents in those neighborhoods might want to know that registration is open for the Woodland Soccer Club. WSC is a nonprofit recreational soccer club open to kids between the ages of 5 and 18 who live within the club's boundaries (generally the Wallingford and Green Lake neighborhoods, though check our web site for specific boundaries). Registration and other pertinent information can be found at the club's web site. If we're reading…

Soggy Afternoon

As of this writing, the clouds have cleared, the street parking is filled and it appears the fireworks display is on. A big thanks to Nature for clearing the skies after this afternoon's bit of sogginess. We're home, watching the crowds amble down the street towards Gas Works at the moment, but earlier this afternoon, we paid a visit to the park to see join in the festivities. We spotted the showers coming in from across Lake Union and got confirmation…

Sumo on the Fourth

Nothing says U.S.A. like sumo wrestling. We know we mentioned this earlier, but now we have a photo to go with the story, so we're saying it again: in addition to the rocking chair races, Trophy Cupcake's Cakewalk, and lots of other carnival games, Fuerte Fitness will be sponsoring sumo wrestling at Gas Works Park on July 4th, noon to 4 pm. See our full Fourth of July rundown for all the details.

As they were gathering their things, they looked out the window as two men on motorcycles pulled up. One hopped off his bike, smashed their car window with a tire…

There's nothing as American as apple pie, and nothing goes with apple pie better than a cup of coffee. That, we assume, is the logic behind Tully's coffee give-away tomorrow morning. Friday, July 2nd from 7 - 10 am, various Tully's, including the Wallingford location at 2100 N 45th St, will be giving away free drip coffee. The rest of the weekend is a buy-one-get-one-free deal on barista drinks. Nothing says America like buy-one-get-one-free.

Tidings from Tangletown

June full moon.  Cold, gray sky.  Tangletown north of 50th St. is full of messages: Inside Mighty O Donuts.  Truly words to live by, my friend. Outside Meridian Market.  No, that is not the sun.  It is a figment of your imagination. Holy moley!  Drinks of the Decades at the Pour House. Disclaimer:  I take no responsibility for libel.  I am just a reporter.  Sign at the corner of 55th St. and Keystone Ave. I don't know what the questions are,…
