Blackberries Along The Burke

If you’ve noticed people gingerly poking around the brambles alongside the Burke Gilman Trail, chances are they’ve spotted patches of ripened wild blackberries. Our little band of berry pickers biked down to the Trail today and found a lush spot parallel to Dunato’s Marine Services and Supply.  Though it looked like most of the brambles had already been picked clean, there were still plenty of places underneath for little hands to reach. Blackberry picking requires skillful hands to reach around the…

Caleb shares a story and a warning: I had 4 bikes stolen off my front porch late Monday night/Tuesday morning near Lower Woodland…

The Low-Down on “Get Low”

Set yourself down and enjoy an evening with Robert Duvall was the take-home message for audiences interviewed as they were exiting Get Low, the new movie at The Guild.  You could do a lot worse than spend some time in the company of his stern magnificence: "Liked it a lot.  Great.  Robert Duvall deserves a Best Actor Oscar.  Has he won one before or just Supporting Actor?  It was a showcase for him.  Great, great role for him." - Greg "Hard…

To Fresh, or Not To Fresh?

More often these days while snooping up and down my street, I see that distinctive light-green Amazon Fresh truck parked in front of someone's house delivering groceries.  Which sets off speculation about what I'm missing out on. I happen to be one of those oddballs who goes to the grocery store every day, on foot (okay, sometimes more than once).  I only buy the ingredients for the next meal or from a small list of essentials that need restocking.  Does this…
