Lock Up Yer Ladders!

An anonymous Wallyhood tipster sent this advice for discouraging those around the neighborhood with an underdeveloped sense of respect for other people's personal property: The first Police Notes item in today's the Herald-Outlook concerns a ladder that was left outside and then used by criminals to climb in an open 2nd story window at a nearby home. Folks, please, please put your ladders away inside your basement or garage at the end of the workday.  If you can't do that, then…

Upcoming public forums to discuss SHARE shelter

As previously reported on Wallyhood, the indoor homeless SHARE shelter opened yesterday at the Gift of Grace Lutheran Church. Following up from Sunday's notification meeting, Pastor Jami Fecher sent an email to all meeting attendees who wanted to receive a follow up communication. I've re-printed the email below with Pastor Fecher's permission. His email, among other things, outlines a few upcoming public forums to be held at Mosaic Coffeehouse (4401 Second Ave North East), the first of which is this Saturday from 10:30am - noon. The next…

Now yes, she said "not your dirty minds", but Wallingford's only gay bar has a volleyball team named The Cocktails, and they're going to be getting…

Smash Wine Bar on Tippr

One of sponsors, Smash Wine Bar and Bistro, is the featured deal on Tippr today: $20 buys you $40 worth of food and drink. We've heard that these deals tend to sell very well. Some restaurants get overwhelmed in the days following the deal as everyone rushes to cash in. We heard Rain Sushi, for example, sold over 2,000 of these and struggled for a bit to keep up. Hopefully, Smash will have the "problem" of too many customers.

Wallingford Home Tour Canceled

The Wallingford Home Tour, originally slated for Saturday, October 3, has been canceled, according to  Janet Stillman, Director of the Wallingford Neighborhood Office.  The reason for the cancellation is that there aren't enough homes for the tour. This annual event provided the public with a chance to see many of the beautiful Craftsman Bungalows here in Wallingford.  Proceeds of the Home Tour also supports the cost of running the neighborhood office.
