Smash Wine Bar and Bistro is offering a great deal through the Green Lake Moms / Wallyhood Deal Coop: $25 for $50 worth of food and drink! The usual restrictions apply (e..g, can't be used for Happy Hour pricing), but $25 off this great little restaurant is not to be missed. Local, Organic Produce Delivered to Wallingford

The fate of the Wallingford Farmers Market remains in doubt. Whole Foods (aka "Whole Paycheck") recently capitulated to Monsanto's drive to genetically engineer pesticides into our food supply. Despite there being several valuable items left about, the burglar only took about $40 in quarters, but rifled through nearly everything in the house. When a police officer…

imok, uok?

With the earthquake in Japan in the news these last days, I thought it might be a good time for an update on community preparedness planning in our own back yard. Nothing like a big disaster to get people's attention about making some basic preparations. You might be wondering what the headline has to do with this subject. One thing that emergency preparedness folks have realized over the past couple of years is that texting is often more successful than a…

Jiggles, the Gentleman's Club that has operated just over our border on Roosevelt in the U District, has been closed by court order today. "Superior Court Judge Suzanne Barnett awarded the injunctive relief sought by Assistant City Attorneys Bob Tobin and Carlton Seu at the end of an hour of oral arguments," according to the Seattle City Attorney's office. "Barnett rejected the First Amendment argument that was central to the defense by Jiggles’ owner Bob Davis ... As long as its…
