OK, folks, you forced our hand. We're taking it up a notch. The last four times we ran the What in the Wallingford contest, eagle-eyed readers nailed it in a matter of hours (and sometimes minutes). So we're going to make it a little more difficult. This week's mystery photo is shown at right. As you can tell, we had a little fun with it, but it should still be recognizable. Also, to give everyone more of a sporting chance, instead of…

He sends his condolences to Burks and the other Wallingford pole polishers. Alixito adds that it was caused by a car accident and that approximately 630 homes are impacted. Estimated fix by 2:07 pm.

We currently have Rock Star and Plymouth Barred Rock birds, but Orpingtons and Australorps are our favorite breeds (gentle, good layers, not so destructive). Chicks are easy for the first month or so- you just need a box, a lamp, and some starter feed.…

Food Bank Gourmet

When chefs Rachel Yang of Joule or Amy McRay of Eva cook, you can imagine they have a pretty well-stocked pantry to work with. Imagine, though, that these two cooking experts were limited to food you'd find in a food bank. We'd say it's doubtful you'd find "Hawaiian prawn stone pot with saffron rice" or "Grilled Northwest Beef ‘Petit Tender’ Steak with a Sauté of Roasted Potato, Red Onion, and Winter Vegetables & a Feta, Smoked Paprika and Almond Salts" on the…
