On May 18, 1981, a year after Mt. St. Helen's blew, Seattle's first Irish bar opened: Murphy's Irish Pub. Go ahead, check your calendar: next Wednesday, that'll be thirty years exactly, and they're celebrating. KeyBank Open House Tomorrow

The new KeyBank is hosting an open house tomorrow, Friday, May 13 from 9am to 5pm. While they won't officially be open for business, the staff will be on hand to meet and greet neighbors and merchants, and they'll provide coffee from Fuel, donuts from Mighty-O in the morning, and Trophy Cupcakes in the afternoon. Hamilton’s Alvarez named JSIS principal

Assistant principal Jesely Alvarez of Hamilton International Middle School has been named principal of John Stanford International School.  Alvarez will take over Kelly Aramaki's post, when he departs JSIS at the end of the school year and heads to Beacon Hill International. Hamilton's principal, Chris Carter, expressed his excitement for Alvarez' new role, but also some sadness that "HIMS will be losing such a talented and respected colleague and school leader." Plant Sale at JSIS this Saturday
