New PEPS groups for fall at Good Shepherd

Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS) is offering two new groups this fall designed especially for parents with two children. Both of these groups will meet at the Good Shepherd Center (4649 Sunnyside Avenue North, Room 326): Second Time Around is a parent support group for parents who have more than one child, including a new baby. Unlike the Little Peppers group below, they come to the group with just their new baby. The difference between the Second Time Around group…

Wallingford Wednesday

Don't let the post-Labor Day-here-comes-the-dang-rainy-season blues keep you indoors just yet.  The weather is fine this week, and Wednesday will be a great day to get out and rub elbows with neighbors because Wallingford has four - yes, four - separate events you can attend on Wednesday.  Enjoy them all! Wallingford Farmers Market at Meridian Park.  3:30 pm - 7 pm.  Curious as to what'll be available this week?  Check out Zachary Lyons' "What's Fresh Now".   (Psst.  The market operates the rest…

Community Council and Meridian Playground Fix Up

This Wednesday at the Wallingford Community Council (7:00 - 9:00 pm, Good Shepherd Center, Room 202) we'll have Pamela from the Parks Department attending. Community Breakfast to Celebrate the Season

The Wallingford Community Senior Center will host a Harvest Breakfast on Saturday, 9/10.  Attendees will enjoy a seasonal breakfast, freshly-made for neighbors and friends. Plus, there's a bonus:  immediately after breakfast you can just walk 'round back & enjoy Seattle Tilth's Harvest Fair from 10am - 4pm in Meridian Park.  Wallyhood's got more detail about the…

Bristol Bay produces the world's largest sockeye salmon fishery and one of the largest king salmon runs, with as many as 60 million sockeye returning every year, 40% of the global supply, but there's a threat looming: several mining companies have been eyeing the…

Make way for the bus parade

If you live near one of our three neighborhood public schools, you know what it's like--oh--between 7:45 – 9:30a.m., and again from 1:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: The endless march of school buses picking up, dropping off, picking up, dropping off. This is a reminder that it all begins again next Wednesday (9/7).
