Chabela’s coming to Wallingford

Ken wrote: I was walking past the papered-over storefront of the expired La Casa Azul today and noticed that a liquor license application has been posted on the front door. The replacement is called Chabela's Bar Grill, apparently. The liquor license is registered to Zaidozir, Inc and Mr. Andres Rizo Lopez, but that's about all we know for now. There was a restaurant named Chabela's in New York that served Dominican / Caribbean food, if that's a clue.

Churro Chip at TnT Taqueria

Heather over at Chow Foods wanted to let everyone know about a new promotion at TnT Taqueria (2114 N. 45th St.): Right now with every purchase we are handing out a small coin called a Churro Chip. Christmas light show extravaganza

Boy, I'll tell ya, Greenlake resident Jeff Rodenburg has a thing about Christmas lights. Since 2001, Jeff has put on a nightly Christmas light show in front of his home that dazzles NE 57th Street throughout the month of December. He's got a whopping 30,000 lights in all, with 19,000 of them used for a huge Christmas tree. The lights are synchronized to music that you can listen to on your car radio (or portable, if you walk), tuned to 102.1…

Coming Soon: Pho Than Bros

While we're bidding our final farewells to all things Subway in Wallingford, Andrew snapped this picture today. Pho Than Bros is moving into the old Subway space on N. 45th at Corliss. The Than Brothers website says they should be open in January. That's right, folks, Pho is returning to Wallingford. Further proof that the world will not end tomorrow. Thanks for the pic and tip, Andrew!
