Ride of Silence tonight

Tonight at 6pm, cyclists from all over the city will gather at Gas Works Park to begin the seventh annual Ride of Silence. The bike ride is a 9-12 mile, slow pace procession around the city, to honor cyclists who have been killed in traffic. While the Ride of Silence attracts hundreds of cyclists, the event itself is very much a grassroots effort. Your New Transfer Station Layout

On Monday the new transfer station layout was settled on by the stakeholder group. While the design requires a rezone and moves operations closer to residential, if done correctly the new design can be an asset to the community. The "Concept C" design is shown here, with the outline of the current transfer station in red (click the picture to zoom it): The numbered circles in the picture correspond to these Wallingford Community Council feedback points: The TS will be stacked over…

There are just 40 seats available, and registration is…

If there is a better way to spend a Spring Saturday morning than on a bike bopping between garage sales, I don't know what it is. What makes it so wonderful? Is it finding bizarre and beautiful oddments, like the 1950's-era cellulite reducing "Home Pony" we bought years ago for just $10? Is it chatting with the hosts about the bits of their life they've decided to pass on? Or is it coasting down cherry-blossomed streets between the sales, eager with…
