Center for Wooden Wallingford?

  • Post author:

In our dreams, we are lying on the deck of a gently rocking wooden sailboat. The only noises are the lap of the waves, the creak of the shifting hull, and an occasional call of a seabird.

In our lives, we are lying on the couch, listening to I-5 and some guy in a souped up Honda with his bass turned up too loud.

Maybe our lives will change if the tip we heard from Mary is right, and the Center for Wooden Boats expands from their present location on the southern tip of Lake Union to the north shore, Wallingford.

The friendly folks at the CWB have a flotilla of boats, for sailing and rowing, that are available to rent to the public. They also provide maritime classes to children and adults and run historical boat restoration projects. Wonderfulness right on Lake Union.

CWB, say it’s so! We promise, we won’t run on deck.

Wallyhood has a call in to the center for details and will report what we hear.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Hopefully the south Wallingford Gasworks NIMBY complainers won’t sink this thing too.

(See what I did there? Sink? Ha!)
