Margarita Cupcakeville

It’s always heartwarming to see Americans, so often stereotyped as self-centered and xenophobic, embrace the cherished aspects of other cultures as if they were their own. Today, for example, millions of Americans will take to the streets to show their respect for Mexican culture by celebrating the Mexican army’s unlikely defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, Cinco de Mayo.

trophycupcakesmargaritacupcakeWhile many Americans will express their multiculturalism by drinking themselves blind on Corona, Tecate and tequila, we in Wallingford have another option: cupcakes!

Yes, starting today, Trophy Cupcakes (in Wallingford Center) will be serving their newest flavor…Margarita:

A Lime Cupcake full of tangy lime zest, fresh lime juice and delicious lime oil topped with Tequila and Lime Buttercream…of course it is finished with candied lime zest and salt! … One week is not long enough for the Trophy Margarita Cupcake, so it will be available from Cinco de Mayo through the end of May (5/5 -5/31).

Also on tap, Mexican Hot Chocolate cupcakes.

And don’t forget that Trophy will be hosting local artist Cakespy with cupcake-themed art at Wednesday’s Art Walk, 6 – 9 pm.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
