Wallingford Center Apartments

Jordan June 22, 2009 2 Comments

Our friends Monica and Jason mentioned to us that they’re looking to rent a 3bd house in Wallingford. We’d love to have them in the neighborhood. We also noticed that there’s been some talk in the Wallyhood Forums from people asking about housing and apartments in Wallingford (seeking and selling).

All that housing talk jogged our memory, reminding us that Amy Singer, the building manager at Wallingford Center, was kind enough to give us a guided tour of the apartments that live over the shops. We’d always been curious about them, and during the tour, we learned how rental properties can get better reviews. So we thought we’d share a detail and picture.

Wallingford Center used to be school, of course, and the apartments have inherited some the best features: 14′ ceilings, huge, the original 6’+ high windows, that old wood feel. The apartments, 1 bedrooms and studios mostly, have been carved out of the original classrooms with what feels like a European sensibility: efficient use of small spaces. In particular, we enjoyed the lofts built overlooking the kitchen and living areas, open to the windows and mountain views.

And location, well, there’s a farmer’s market outside your door every week. You could probably arrange with Trophy Cupcakes to drop a bucket out your window for dessert.

Studio $1,275, 1 bed $1,400. More info at www.wallingfordcenterapts.com or contact Amy Singer at [email protected].

Amy should probably consider putting up info about the apartments on the company’s website. Having the link go to a generic landing page concerning an unrelated development doesn’t really help.

I moved into a one bedroom apt. at Wallingford Center in 1991 when the rent was $700. They are nice apartments and I loved the neighborhood and miss living there.
