Community Story Week!

  • Post author:

Next week, from Monday August 3rd to Friday August 7th, is Stories from the Community week on Wallyhood. That’s right, all week, we’re going to be running stories written by you, people from Wallingford.

Why? Because we’re going on vacation!

Aaaanndddd….because from the beginning, it’s been the goal of this blog to help people from the community get to know each other, to make us feel more like a community. And what better way to get to know each other than to share stories from your lives?

So, if you’ve always thought to yourself “I could write a blog” or “I’ve got a story to tell”, this is your opportunity. Just take a  moment, and drop us an e-mail with what you’ve got to say. No length limits or requirements, but we do retain the right to choose what to run (and we may edit with your permission).

Wondering what to write about? Whatever you want. It could be about Wallingford specifically, or about you and your life that happen to be here. Some ideas, should you be willing but unsure where to begin:

  • Spend an evening at Al’s Tavern, the Pacific Inn, Lenny’s and Moon Temple. Contrast and compare.
  • Go to Art Walk. Share a particular experience.
  • That funny experience you had with a neighbor
  • Wallingford restaurant / store review
  • Compare Bloody Mary’s at various Wallingford establishments
  • Compare lattes at Irwin’s, Kuma, and other independent coffee shops
  • Late-night dog walker etiquette

So, are you game

Remember, it’s about community. And the fact that we’re going on vacation and really could use some help.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
