Milk Carton Derby

  • Post author:

While we’re obviously big boosters of the Kiddie Parade, it’s worth mentioning that there is another option for entertainment in the ‘hood this coming Saturday morning: the Milk Carton Derby at Greenlake. Over 100 crafts deriving their buoyancy from milk cartons will be competing for $10,000 in prize money starting at 10 am.

Struck with disbelief? Behold!

And let’s not forget that it’s a charitable event, as well:

Northwest Harvest and Seafair are partnering to collect food and financial donations at the 2009 Allstate Milk Carton Derby. Please bring nonperishable food or financial donations with you to the southwest corner of Green Lake on July 11 for the Seafair sink Hunger Derby Day. Northwest Harvest volunteers will be onsite from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. to collect your donations. Then stay and play at the Milk Carton Derby! Visit Nortwest Harvest for a complete list of acceptable items.

Milk is not an acceptable item.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
