Armed Robbery, Hondas and Cadillacs

Jordan Jordan September 9, 2009 2 Comments

If you thought you heard shots early Tuesday morning, you weren’t imagining it. The SPD Blotter blog relates:

On 9/8/09, just shortly before 1:00 a.m., officers were in the area of Greenlake, near Evans Pool, conducting an area check on a shots fired call.  While checking the pool lot, a female approached officers and advised that she had just been robbed.

According to the victim, she was walking near the canoe rental shed, when two males approached her.  One of the males put a gun to her head and the other suspect took cash from her pocket.  The suspects then walked away.

Officers immediately set containment and a K-9 responded.  A track was attempted with negative results.  As officers were still searching the area a second victim called 911.

The second incident occurred near the 5800 block of Latona Ave NE.  The same described suspects robbed a male and then were seen leaving the area in a Black Honda.  An extensive area check was conducted with negative results.

These suspects are described as black males. Nothing further.

It’s eerie to read these reports, written so drily: “a female approached officers and advised that she had just been robbed” leaves one with the impression that the woman calmly, slowly walked up to the police, begged their pardon for the interruption, but simply had to let them know she had recently been involved in a most unusual incident. Rather.

On a related note, Shay writes:

Early Saturday morning around 5am or so i saw a red mid 90s maroon Cadillac pull up across the street from my house on wallingford ave. I had seen the car a few streets away on my way home going down the road slowly. about 5 minutes later i was going out to make sure my car was locked I saw this car on my street …As i was just getting to the street i saw a man in a black sweatshirt run across the yard of one of my neighbors and jump into the car. The driver saw me and started walking toward me, so I went into my house. Not sure what they were doing but it was very suspicious. My roommate actually got her car window broken and things stolen out of her car about 2 weeks ago, so we have been on the lookout..Just wanted to give a heads up to the neighbors here in wallingford to look out for the maroon mid 90s cadillac. I was unable to get a plate number 🙁

Be careful, Wallingford.

I’m not trying to blame the victim here, but do people hang out at Green Lake at 1 AM during the week? Seems like an odd place to be at that hour.

Being awake at 6am to run around Greenlake sounds odd to me, but I hear people do it.
