Goldie’s For Sale

  • Post author:

Erin reported that she had it from a reliable source that the reason for Goldie’s sudden closure was that they were under new management, and the liquor board had yet to authorize a license for the new owner. Andrew just provided us a new clue to the goings on in the form of this Craigslist posting:

We think this is a prime opportunity for Wallingford to snag itself a new Community Center. Four pool tables, five electric darts, popular video games and they don’t even mention the beer! Let’s see, 1/3 of $189,500 is $63,166. How many fundraisers does that make?

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

i can’t believe that place is only $189,500. i should buy it and make it my house.

rolf: I doubt that price includes the building. You’re probably paying rent on top of the $189K.

Maybe we could make that “1/300 of 189,500 is $632”. I’d chip in that much, and I bet 299 other Wallyhood follwers would as well to have something useful in that space.

Janey – a co-op neighborhood bar. I like it! Buy a table and have your name on a brass plate on it. Custom mugs and no Bud or Miller…..(that’ll keep the frat boys away – maybe). Just not another head shop.

The building is assessed at $741,000 , so I think that the $189.500 really is the price for the business. The monthly lease is probably a good chunk of change!!
