Kill A Watt at the Library

Things you can get at the Wallingford branch of the Seattle Public Library:

  • Books
  • CDs of your favorite musicians
  • Kill A Watt device

What’s a Kill A Watt? Check this out from the SPL’s press release:

Find out how much electricity that old TV or refrigerator is using. The Seattle Public Library and Seattle City Light have teamed up to make “Kill A Watt” home energy monitors available to Library cardholders at all Library locations.

Beginning May 6, Library patrons can borrow a Kill A Watt device with a Library card, just like a book or DVD. Plug it into an electrical outlet and find out how much it’s costing to run refrigerators, computers, TVs and other home appliances. The Kill A Watt monitor measures the electric consumption of small to medium household electronic devices and appliances, and can even help discover which appliances use electricity even when turned off.

For more information about borrowing a Kill A Watt device, call The Seattle Public Library at 206-386-4636. You can use it to find out how much viewing Wallyhood costs you!

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
