Yard Sale Tour

  • Post author:

Yard sale season is upon us again, and the John Stanford International School is helping us kick it off with their annual Yard Sale Tour this Saturday, May 15th from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Like last year, there are six houses throughout the neighborhood that will be hosting garage sales as fundraisers:

  • 2200 N. 38th St.
  • 1818 N. 43rd St.
  • 4011 Corliss Ave N.
  • 3823 Burke Ave N.
  • 4714 4th Ave NE
  • 4401 2nd NE.

This strategy is brilliant, because it takes the best aspects of a yard sale and a rummage sale and combines them, thusly:

  • An excellent excuse to ride your bike (yard sale)
  • An excellent excuse to strike up conversations with strangers (yard sale)
  • Lots of stuff (rummage sale)

If you’d like to donate, contact Kelli Black ([email protected]) or Susan Schudie ([email protected]).

Also, advance warning that the following weekend, the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club will be combining the best aspects of the rummage sale with the best aspects of the rummage sale by holding a rummage sale on Saturday, May 22nd, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Club. Meghan Sweet writes:

All proceeds will benefit the Club’s free teen programs, especially our Keystone teen service group. We would love for the community to come out and support local kids by purchasing a book, toy or whatever. Also, if neighbors have items they might like to donate to the event, they can drop them by the Club anytime until May 20th – we are accepting everything except for adult clothing items.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
