State of the Union Watch Party

Jordan Jordan January 24, 2011 7 Comments

The President will be stepping up the lectern tomorrow night, Tuesday, in the annual State of the Union address. Where are you going to watch? No better place than amongst your neighbors, hipping and hepping and playing buzzword bingo at Kate’s Pub (309 NE 45th St).

Says they:

Last year’s party was so great we decided to do it again with a full 80-inches of President Obama and Congress to make the political geek inside of you squeal with delight.

That’s right! The State of the Union address on an 80-inch projection screen. And if that’s not enough, the happy hour specials are ridiculous:

  • $3 micro brews and wells
  • $1.50 Rolling Rock

HALF OFF all food (which is above average pub fare ranging from grilled veggie sandwiches to BBQ pulled pork mac & cheese)
The night’s entertainment will also include a rules card for the one-and-only State of the Union drinking game created half-a-decade ago by socially-deprived political journalism interns. So join your fellow Seattle Democrats for a State of the Union watch party unlike any other. It’s first-come, first-serve seating with doors opening at 4 p.m. (event kicks-off at 5 p.m.).

This event is co-hosted by the 34th, 36th, 37th, 43rd, and 46th District Democrats. RSVP & Invite Your Friends on Facebook. This event is for 21 and older only and IDs will be checked at the door.

Thanks for the tip, Vanessa! Poster design by DOUG.

Kate’s Pub is a great place! and this is a great opportunity.
the only reason Not A Number isn’t hosting the same (we’re always asked and have hosted these watch parties before) is we’re going to the Mayor’s nearby town hall gathering at University Heights Center. another good place to check out the state of the city. 5:30-8pm tomorrow

Thanks for spreading the word. It’s going to be a fun time, guaranteed!

Thanks for invite and event. NOTE: Much as I’d like to have another nice hangout in Fremont, Kate’s is not in Fremont. The map at the link in the first line locates NorthWEST 45th, at the corner of Phinney. Needs a on letter tweak…

I need my own “one letter” tweak…

Hmmm… I’ve heard of Virginia ham before, but not Virginia spam… If you’re gonna do SEO, Tom, best to leave your politics out of it: http://www.linkedin.com/in/thomastypinski

Good eye, protected static! I’m usually pretty good at spotting the SEO spam comments, but that one seemed legit enough (no broken English, on specific topic, etc.) And then I didn’t want to “censor” him.

      Anyway, expunged!
