Muddied Cup

Jordan Jordan March 4, 2011 6 Comments

Several readers have noted that A Muddy Cup, the new coffee shop on 45th Street at Latona, has been closed for several days, with just a sign on the door saying they’ll be closed for a few days.

We don’t know what’s up, but have made some inquiries and will let you know what we find.

Update: Sunday, March 6:  A Muddy Cup’s owner Sarah wrote to tell us that she’s been ill these last few days and hopes to open up again by Monday (tomorrow, 3/7).  Wednesday, 3/9.  She apologizes for the inconvenience.

I was there a few days ago when they were “opened”, but no one was behind the counter. I waited 6-8 minutes, and a customer said, “dude, they just left and said they’d be back”.

Something weird is going on. Sorry to see, as I like this place.

I really hope everything’s OK, this coffee shop is a real gift to our neighborhood. The owners have made the shop so comfortable it’s a pleasure to spend money there. Service is personal and driendly, the coffee is the best around, and as an added bonus, they get pastries from Le Fournil–best croissants in town!

I too stopped in for my first visit last weekend. A very nice lady behind the counter
explain to those of us in line that “unless we would like baked goods” she would not be able to help us. She said she didn’t know how to make coffee drinks and that she was just ” watching the shop temporarily until the owners returned “.I heard their coffee is excellent so of course I was disappointed. I sure hope everything is OK.

It is tough running a small business where usually the owner has to be there all the time. I hope they are able to straighten whatever it is out.

Sarah and Matt will you please hire some help? Everyone loves your coffee, and you two are great, when you’re there.

I agree with shane. It seems like you guys are doing good business. If so, then you should hire some part time help so when things go awry the place doesn’t have to shut down. We live very close so it doesn’t matter as much, but when people make a special trip to muddy cup and it is closed, it can be disappointing i am sure.
