I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Whose idea, to publish the menu in a Microsoft application data format? I guess I should check links beforehand more often, as it does me no good to download this junk.

For those who use applications like this to create documents, when you’re ready to publish the result somewhere / to someone, the keyword you’re looking for in the application’s menus is typically “export”. Your choice of export formats might include PDF, HTML, plain text and a couple other odds and ends. PDF is a fairly safe bet to preserve the document contents in detail; HTML is a good fit with a web site because that’s what web browsers interpret; plain text is ideal for email if the document isn’t fancy enough to warrant some special application to view it.

The only good reason I can think of to send someone a .doc file, is if he or she is going to edit it with the same application.
