Felipe Caneta

Soleil writes:

Wallingford resident and my dear friend Felipe Canete passed away tragically yesterday from an apparent heart attack/failure. You may have seen him around the neighborhood with his son Rio Malai and wife Katy Canete.  He was far too young, at 35 years of age. He performed with bands Luc and the Lovingtons and Sing with Señor.

Soleil, Felipe’s business partner and band-mate, notes that they had a performance scheduled at Alphabet Soup for June 8th, which has obviously been canceled, and said there may be a small musical event to “pay tribute to his legacy of positivity, love and smiles.”

Our heart goes out to his wife and son and all those who loved him.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Such a loss! I can hardly believe this. I met so many people who knew Felipe, and were touched by his kind heart and beautiful spirit.
I did not know him, but remember donating when he sent out a request for donations so he could tape his album, Sing with Senor. I was touched by his wording, and again when he personally wrote to thank me.
It seems impossible that such a strong vibrant soul is gone.
I am sending my thoughts and prayers to his family.
