Happy 30th Anniversary to the Archie McPhee Store!
Archie McPhee has been keeping Seattle weird since 1983. Time flies when you’re having fun and we’re about to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Join us on Saturday, July 13th as we celebrate 30 years of fun and frivolity. From noon to 4pm there will be games, prizes, a performance by the band Fez Monkey and… wait for it… the unveiling of our new Penny Periscope! There will be even an official cake cutting ceremony at 2pm. Come join us for the party!

There’s a band called Fez Monkey?

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

    Yay! Cheap plastic crap!

I’m fine with the stuff inside the store…I just wish the exterior would be repainted to something a little more neighborhood-friendly.

Oh man, please don’t listen to Neighbor2You, that’s the last thing we need in the ever progressing blandification of Wallingford.

I think the exterior is great! I think Archie’s is great. People come to W’ford because of Archie’s! From everywhere. Archie’s is just plain fun and funky, and a huge asset to our neighborhood.

    Happy Birthday, Archie McPhee!

Happy Birthday! Your mural makes me smile every time I drive by. And that, my friends, means it’s neighborhood-friendly.
