It’s fun for everyone at Family Fun Field Day 2013! Games, food, prizes, and giving to a great cause. Revenue from ticket sales goes directly to provide grants to children with neurological disorders that help with rehabilitation and recovery. Featuring the Seahawks mascot, Blitz, and drum line, Blue Thunder!

You can register in advance at their web site.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Each year the Family Fun Field Day just gets better. The weather always cooperates, historically, and I love the experience of hands-on involvement with a local charitable organization. IF one donates beyond the admission to the festivities at Meridian Park (that day or as an annual charitable donation to a nonprofit) I like it that one sees the who what when where why of how funds are routed to services through the organizers who are there in person with board members and volunteers. Local local. Last year the conversations at the art and craft table alone made for a memorable experience. People worth finding out about to paraphrase EB White. Worth making the effort to attend for all 3 hours.
