Backyard Bard

Kimberly August 2, 2013 Comments are off

BackyardBard2Serendipity struck last weekend when my family and I decided to head out for an evening of bike-riding practice. We got to Wallingford Playfield, where we noticed a large gathering of people assembled in lawn chairs and looking expectantly in the same direction. What was going on? We wandered over to discover that we had arrived just in time for Shakespeare in the park!

Serendipity can strike you this weekend, because the merry players of Greenstage will be returning to Wallingford Playfield this Saturday at 7 pm. Greenstage’s Backyard Bard will perform a one hour, four person interpretation of The Merry Wives of Windsor.

Bring your own blanket or lawn chairs. Bring a picnic. Bring a couple of dollars to give to the hardworking actors. You’ll feel so incredibly cultured to be enjoying Shakespeare in your local park – complete with quick costume changes, audience interaction and clever improv. Ah, summer in Wallyhood!
