Last Art Walk of 2013

WALLINGFORD-POSTER4The last Wallingford Art Walk of 2013 is this Wednesday, September 11th from 6 – 9 pm all up and down 45th Street.

Even the East end businesses, Wine World, Slave to the Needle, Kate’s Pub, Pudge Brothers, Frame Central, a Muddy Cup, Comics Dungeon and (long-time Wallyhood sponsor) Bedrooms and More are throwing down. See the line-up at right.

Over at Wallingford Center, the New Orleans-style brass band Tubaluba kicks off at 6:30 pm and Murphy’s will have acoustic guitar music by Travis Hartnett from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Live music up and down the street! They even promise to have a Lyft car shuttling folks east and west to take advantage of all the goodness without wearing out your shoes.

I finally made it out to August’s Wallingford Art Walk for the first time in many moons and had myself a ball.

Passerbys of all ages were encouraged to twiddle the knobs and push the buttons. My son Zev spent a good half hour entranced.

Over at HR Block, I had a nice chat with Sacha Blue from Kirkland, who specializes in underwater photography. She’s got a whole set of costumes and props ready to go for all occasions (maternity, graduation, kids and family, you name it), and a host of pools and natural bodies of water at her disposal. The outcome is stunning:

One last time, for 2013. The weather should be lovely, take a stroll, grab your neighbors on your way out the door. Make an evening of it.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
