What do you get when you pair an award-winning Washington winemaker, grapes from some of the state’s top growing regions and your local food bank? Sozo Friends, a local winery dedicated to helping those who are helping others. But unlike any other fundraising source, Sozo Friends raises money through developing and selling wine. Each bottle of wine makes it very clear to the consumer just how much help is being provided, as the number of meals each bottle will provide are printed right on the label. For example, Humanity Riesling provides five meals; Bountiful Bordeaux provides 25 meals and so on.

The City Cellars – Sozo wine tasting is Friday, October 11th, 5 pm to 7 pm at City Cellars, 1710 N 45th St.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

These SOZO folks are wonderful and their wine is delicious! Give ’em a whirl! They are serving wine at our FamilyWorks fundraiser next Sunday. Can’t wait!
