Everyone’s getting in on the crowdfunding game, including Wallingford’s own independent theater, Stone Soup:

Stone Soup Theatre specializes in providing interesting and unusual work in a short play, at an affordable price, but we struggle to afford our space with a 40% rent increase and a $5,000 triple net charge in 2013 (taxes that a landlord can legally pass onto tenants)!

Help us keep our space and raise $5,000 to pay for our triple net taxes so that we can stay in our home and continue to serve up quality theatre that is always fresh and filling!

To make things more exciting, we are giving away fantastic prizes like Flex passes, theatre seats in your name, dinner for two at Tutta Bella’s restarunt, and more!

As of this writing, they’re just about halfway to their $5,000 goal. Want to help them get the rest of the way? Visit their Indiegogo campaign page.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
