Woodlawn Santa

Jordan Jordan October 22, 2013 11 Comments

Sharon (aka the Woodlawn Santa) asked us to pass this along:

Hi everyone, This is Santa on Woodlawn. As some of you might know, my husband has been ill for the last few years. Thus my decorations have not been out in my yard. Fred passed away this year. The yard will be dark yet again this year…BUT, hopefully, will appear once again next year. At 68, I have not given up for 2014. I will be passing out treats for Halloween. Hope to see everyone to say Hi. I might decorate my porch for Christmas…if you come by give a honk. I have not driven for 6 years and I have used my handicap red scooter for doing my shopping on 45th. I promise that it will be decorated by December 1st! So, if you see me, give a shout out or a honk. I want to wish you all a Happy Holiday Season, or as Santa, on Woodlawn would say, “Merry Christmas, HO HO HO!
Sincerely, Sharon (aka Santa)

All of us at Wallyhood are so sorry for your loss, Sharon, but brightened to hear that the house may be lit again this year.

Sharon, Could you use some help decorating? I’m sure there are many of us who would love to help you decorate and then take them down after the holidays. Thanks also for so many years of Christmas cheer at your house and condolences on the passing of Fred. Maybe you could contact Jordan and he could put the word out about decorating help if you’d like any this year… or next!! Thanks again, Lisa

I agree. I think many would like to help put some up…maybe not all.. but this is a good time toget community friendship and keep the tradition alive as is your spirit.

I am new to the area and would love to help! Sharon, please let me, and others interested, know when we can help you decorate! I would love to help you decorate for both Halloween and Christmas.

Sharon, sorry for your loss and grateful for yor holiday cheer. Your display has never looked tacky or trashy. It’s just beautiful. For 20+ years my children and their 20+ cousins go by every Christmas Eve to see you. Much peace, love and light. PS. The kids (who are all adults now) would be glad to assist you and see the return of the shooting star on the roof.

Dear Sharon, We are so sorry for your loss. For many years we made the “treck” from upper Wallingford to lower Wallingford to see your holiday array, and to hear you boom, “Ho Ho Ho!” We now live in NM, and you are one of our warm, Wallingford memories.

I would like to thank everyone for wanting to help. This year I want to take a rest. It was a very tiring year mentally. If I need help next year I will let you know on Wallyhood.

    Thanks Again
    Santa HoHOHo 🙂
