Craft Sale at WPC

  • Post author:

Tiare Mathison, the pastor at the Wallingford Presbyterian Church at 42n and Ashworth writes:

This Sunday, November 3, at noon, we will host a fair in our fellowship hall. Youth will sell home made bake goods to raise funds for their summer mission trip. Church members will sell their crafts with the money going to a mission cause. Church World Service and CROP Walk representatives will staff a table with information about the Heifer Project, a world hunger relief effort by the National Council of Churches.

Its a wonderful way to shop, help good causes and enjoy some treats. Everyone is welcomed. Enter through the doors on the east side (42nd Street). Questions? 641-840-0109

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Went there, was no festival. Just a private dinner. Was it the church on 40th near Meridian or Burke?

Several of us went to the church and there was no one there and no festival. So, a walk in the rain for nothing!

I asked Tiare about this. She replied:

I don’t know what happened. We did have the fair in our fellowship hall (basement) from noon until about 1:30. Please extend my apologies, we are sorry they couldn’t find us. The doors are a little funky. Next year we will have good signage:)

I was inside, downstairs, where people told me there was no festival. They were preparing for lunch, and did not invite me to join. They were confused and told me this was a Korean church. Are we sure we had the right address?
