Christmas Shtuff

I’ve got to level: I’m writing this shaded by a palm tree on a warm and sunny beach far to the south of Wallingford. I understand it snowed?

Anyhoo, leaves me a bit disconnected from the neighborhood. So I rely on you all to let me know what’s going on. Specifically, there’s a big holiday coming up, and here’s the sum total of what I know

On Christmas Eve, the Wallingford Presbyterian Church will be celebrating, starting at 7 pm, with a “service of Lessons & Carols with Candle Light and a Surprise Ending! Come hear how Scripture foretells, tells and celebrates the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! Special music includes a beginner saxophonist, an accomplished violinist, our fantastic Music Director and your voice joined with others singing traditional Christmas Carols.”

Murphy’s Irish Pub will be open on Christmas Day  with full kitchen in the beginning and limited menu after 5 pm.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

sun and palm trees sound fabulous about this time. I am supremely jealous.

There is a new sign on the large unoccupied space of the Prescott (Stone and 40th) that says Join Now/Pay Later — Going to assume some sort of gym facility is moving in. Any insight?

Not sure why my comment didn’t post. I’ll try again:
The Christmas Ships are coming by Gasworks Park at 9:45 tonight. I’ve never done that, but my mom is in town and I’m wondering if it’s worth our while. Anyone?
