Flash Boulangerie

  • Post author:

As you may remember, Wallingford’s Boulangerie will be baking its last croissant next week (see Seamonster Devours Boulangerie), and with it will end the career of Xun Luoug, the long-time proprietor and sole employee.

The aptly named Dee Fit, owner of Fresh Fitness and Dance, wants to give him a Wallingford send-off tomorrow. She writes:

Myself and a fellow Wallingford resident are putting together a goodbye flash mob dance party for Xun Luong, proprietor of Boulangerie Bakery. He has know me since I was 14 years old he has seen me grow up. He has been a big asset to our community and against his will he is forced to close the bakerys doors at the end of January and retiring from the business.

We want to send him off with a bang! I’m planning to have an outdoor sound system and rcurting instructors and clients from the studio to join us! For a family friendly flash mob or dance party. Just people come and we will supply music !

Please join us, his loyal customers and fans, in forming a “flash mob” to show up at Boulangerie Bakery PRECISELY at 5:00 pm (this) Saturday, Jan 25. Come prepared to give a big cheer for Xun and to join us in saying some words of appreciation for his 30 years of service to us and well wishes for his retirement. Bring a funny little gift if you want, and consider donating towards his retirement.

Flash-mob logistics: Saturday 4:55 pm: meet on the Bagley sidewalk, up the street from Boulangerie and out of sight from the front door of the store. At the stroke of 5:00 pm we’ll make our grand entrance to the store. Lots of noise and cheering as we go!

Sincerely,
Rick Wyckoff and Dee Fit, Co-chairs
Xun Luong Fan Club

Luckily, I have it on strong authority that he doesn’t read Wallyhood.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
