Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em

Kimber Lemon February 5, 2014 3 Comments

(Wallyhood welcomes a new contributor, Kimber Lemon. Kimber came to Wallingford from the great nation to our north after a short detour through Wichita, Kansas. She is an Engineer by day and a distance runner by night (or early morning). She continues to pursue her life-long dream of someday, “running as fast as she can.” Kimber can often be found strolling through the streets of Tangletown with her husband and her Basset Hound, Blue. She prefers cake over pie, summer over winter, and the window over the aisle.)

Looking for a way to celebrate Valentine’s Day early this weekend?

IMG_2500Check out the Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em Valentine’s Day Dash at Green Lake Park. This themed run allows participants to run alone or as part of a two-person team. My husband and I are pairing up to celebrate our first married Valentine’s Day.

Last year’s event attracted almost 2500 runners and walkers of all paces from near and far. Register ahead of time (for a slight discount) or the morning of the race. Costumes are highly encouraged at this event and the field will undoubtedly be filled with pink tutus. The start and finish areas are located at the south end of Green Lake Park. The Kids Dash, free for kids 10 and under, makes this a great family event. If running doesn’t sound like your thing, grab a warm beverage and head down to the lake to cheer for your favorite costume or leave a message in the “Tunnel of Love.”

Race Details – Saturday, February 8th:

  • 8:00 am: Race Day Registration
  • 9:10 am: Kid’s Dash begins
  • 9:25 am: Registration closes
  • 9:30 am: 5km race begins
  • 10:00 am: Post Race Celebration

“Kimber came to Wallingford from the great nation to our north…”

Can you be more specific? North Korea?
