Do you have any gently used books you could donate to the FamilyWorks’ Reading Rocks event?

On Thursday, April 17th, FamilyWorks is celebrating the joy of reading by providing 2 hours of fun literacy activities for kids of all ages here in the first floor conference room at 1501 N. 45th St. It is free and we call it “Reading Rocks”.

We give away books to kids so they can have them at home to read. If you have any gently used books that your family has outgrown, please donate them to FamilyWorks by April 15th. This will enable us to make sure that every Reading Rocks participant goes home with books to love. Call (206) 694-6726 if you have questions.

FamilyWorks is located next door to the Wallingford Library at 1501 N. 45th St. Books can be dropped off there during working hours.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
