Food Stamped

Rick sent this (late) announcement for tonight’s Friday Night at the Meaningful Movies at 7 pm at 5019 Keystone Place N. (in the community room of the Keystone Church):

Please join us this evening for Friday Night at the Meaningful Movies’ showing of the film Food Stamped, a humorous and entertaining documentary film with a serious message.  Joining us for the community discussion following the film, will be Nancy Amidei, Director of The Civic Engagement Project, and former Director of the Food Research and Action Center.

The film follows Nutrition educator Shira Potash and her documentary filmmaker husband as they embark on the food stamp challenge where they attempt to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet on roughly one dollar per meal.  Along the way, they consult with food justice activists, nutrition experts, politicians, and ordinary people living on food stamps, all in order to take a deep look at the struggles low-income Americans face every day while trying to put three-square meals on the table.

FNMM is free and open the public, donations are accepted.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
