St. Patrick’s Day at Murphy’s

  • Post author:

No doubt there will be much bacchanalian up and down 45th Street, down Stone Way and up into Tangletown over the next few days, what with St. Patrick’s Day coming up this Monday, March 17th.

But there’s only one Irish Pub in Wallingford and that’s Murphy’s* (1928 N 45th St), and they’ve got a full line-up, starting with the Carrigaline Celtic Band Friday night, the Tom Bourg Nine Saturday night and a full day of music on St. Patrick’s Day proper.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

I have just moved to Wallingford and I am so excited to get involved in things like the St.Patricks Day event. Some people I work with have explained that this is a night for “Plastic Paddies” and I am concerned as I do not know what these are, or if I need to get them to take out for the evening. Can anyone explain what Plastic Paddies are and where I can find them on St. Patricks Day?
    Thank you so much.

This is one of the best things I’ve read in a very long time.
