Rancho Bravo Sundae

The Wallingford Chamber of Commerce kicked off their “Team Wallingford” initiative today, intended to create collaboration and partnership between Wallingford businesses, with their first round of participating members: Molly Moon’s Ice Cream and Rancho Bravo Tacos.

molly-rancho“Molly Moon’s is super excited to team up with Rancho Bravo on our new seasonal flavor: Nacho Cheese Ice Cream,” explained Molly Moon Neitzel at their April 1st press conference. “As a locavore, artisan ice cream company, teaming up with other local businesses just make sense to us, and there’s no finer artist of food than Freddy Rivas,” she continued, introducing the taco truck magnate.

“While we have shops all around the city now, both the Molly Moon and Rancho Bravo empires began right here in Wallingford, so it meant a lot to both of us to come home together,” said Rivas.

A special sundae featuring the ice cream, the Rancho Bravo Taco Sundae, will be available at both Molly Moon’s ice cream shop and the Rancho Bravo taco truck. It feature sweet cream ice cream flavored with Rancho Bravo’s secret nacho seasoning mix, locally produced ground beef, chicken or pork, jalapeño peppers, guacamole, Mexican hot fudge and “sour” whipped cream, nestled in a valley of a crisp yellow corn taco shell.

In keeping with the Wallingford spirit, all beef used on the sundaes will be sourced from cows grazed on Wallingford parking strips and traffic circles and finished with an organic meal produced from City Grown corn and discarded coffee grounds donated by A Muddy Cup, Irwin’s, Zoka and Fuel.

The Wallingford Chamber of Commerce also announced two more upcoming teams: Wine World and Dick’s Drive-In will jointly produce a “Malbec Milk Shake”, and Al’s Tavern and Bedrooms and More will be producing a “Double Six Pack” promotion, including six drinks at Al’s on a Saturday night followed by six hours of relaxing slumber on a premium, all natural, double-sided ultra-soft latex mattress Sunday morning.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

This sounds tasty! Would also like to see Molly’s creativity unleashed on a partnership with Musashi’s and Petco. Imagine the yummy, healthy, local combinations!

Nice try, but obviously Rancho Bravo doesn’t serve nachos…

What, no vegetarian option? This is Wallingford, people!

The vegetarian option comes with bacon gum from Archie McPhee’s.
