CSA Roundup

Jordan Jordan May 10, 2014 8 Comments

Every year, we publish a little round-up of the various CSA’s (Community Supported Agriculture) that deliver to the Wallingford neighborhood or environs. Below is this year’s version (or open up the doc in its own window).

Not all are truly CSA’s (Full Circle, for example, serves homes from Alaska to California, and draws produce from an equally large area), but all are a good way to get more fresh veggies, and less processed food in your diet.

Please let me know if I’ve missed anything, or if you’ve got a comment on any of the providers.

    I like Collins Family Orchard
    http://collinsfamilyorchards.com/csa-delivery.php

It’s stone fruit, cherries, pears, and apples. They have home delivery to Wallingford for a fee, a Wallingford drop-off location if you’re a City Fruit member, or you can pick up at the Wallingford Farmer’s Market and get whatever they have. If you get a box delivered you get the farmer’s choice. $17-33/week. June 25th thought October. They also have bulk boxes, and you can extra fruit at their farmer’s market stands at the CSA rate. They’re really good. They have a lot of different plum and apricot hybrids, and last year had a remarkable variety of nectarines.

I grew up near the Collins orchard with tree-ripened peaches and apricots. Their fruit is incredible – the best nectarines I have eaten, by far – especially the white nectarines. I agree, their plum and apricot hybrids are amazing.

Get 10% off when you sign up for a Collins CSA. Send an email to [email protected] to get the code for 10% off your subscription.

All fruit from Collins is organic, grown on their orchard outside of Selah, Yakima county. They do small ($17), medium ($23), large ($33) boxes of fruit, your choice of either every week or every other week. If you get the City Fruit 10% discount, you pick up the box at a Wallingford location.

You actually don’t have to be a City Fruit member to use one of the City Fruit pick-up sites. Everyone is encouraged to use those sites. If you are a member, we can provide you with a 10% off code! You can learn about City Fruit on our website – http://www.cityfruit.org – Thanks everyone for your interest!

Don’t forget Pacific Coast Harvest! They’ve been on the scene since 2011 and have grown quite a bit. I’ve been a customer for ~2 years and have been consistently pleased.
